In an era marked by a burgeoning thirst for knowledge, the indispensable role of documenting and chronicling experiences can not be overstated.
This timeless tradition of writing was underscored as Dr. Dele Omojuyigbe, Deputy Provost of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, unveiled his ninth literary offering on February 7, 2024, amidst an eager audience gathered at the school’s auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Gbenga Adefanye, the Institute’s Provost, lauded the author’s adept craftsmanship in penning a work that seamlessly weaves together history and storytelling, a departure from his previous technical volumes which have become fixtures in his personal library.
Echoing Mr. Adefanye’s sentiments, Dr. (Mrs.) Khadijat Adedeji-Olona, a distinguished alumna of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism and the book’s reviewer from Lagos State University, delved into the intricacies of “NIJ’s Inside Story: The Beauty and the Bend.” With its 19 chapters, the book chronicles the journey of the institute, spotlighting luminaries such as the revered Alhaji Lateef Jakande, among others.
She underscored the thematic undercurrents of triumph and evolution that permeate the narrative, shaping the Institute’s trajectory over the years.
Notable figures, including Mr. Lekan Otunfodunrin, Executive Director of Media Career, Mrs. Patricia Kalesanwo, the school’s registrar, esteemed lecturers like Mr. Kami, Mr. Jack, Mr. Gbemisile, and Jide Johnson, Dr., the MC of the event, and a host of students from NDI to post graduates graced the occasion, bearing witness to the culmination of Omojuyigbe’s literary endeavor.
As the event drew to a close, Dr. Omojuyigbe extended his gratitude to all present, marking the end of a memorable public presentation of his latest contribution to the literary landscape.
