NGE Conference to Focus on Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) is set to host its annual conference, bringing together prominent editors, government officials, and stakeholders to discuss pressing national issues.
The two-day event, scheduled for November 12-13, 2025, will feature keynote addresses and paper presentations on topics such as democratic governance, national cohesion, electoral integrity, and the role of editors in shaping Nigeria’s future.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to declare the conference open, while the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar, will chair the proceedings. Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will deliver the keynote address.
The conference will feature prominent speakers, including Prof Awa Kalu, SAN, who will discuss election disputes and judicial integrity, and Prof Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, who will address the state of the nation and the need for economic and political reforms.
Other notable speakers include Gen Lucky Irabor, former Chief of Defence Staff, who will speak on media, terrorism, and national security, and Prof Abiodun Adeniyi, who will examine the evolving face of journalism in the face of misinformation and AI disruption.
The NGE conference provides a platform for editors to engage with government officials, political leaders, and business stakeholders, and to address national issues with social, economic, and political implications.
The event is expected to attract over 500 participants, including editors from print, online, and broadcast media, as well as representatives from government, business, and the diplomatic corps.
