National Guild of Radio Managers Adopts LightRay! Media’s “100 Women in Media Leadership Policy”

In a significant move towards promoting gender diversity and inclusivity in the Nigerian media industry, the National Guild of Radio Managers (Private), representing General Managers, Station Heads/Managers, and MDs of private Radio Broadcast Stations, has officially adopted the “100 Women in Leadership Virtual Summit Policy” (#LightRay!100WiMLPolicy), an innovative initiative introduced by LightRay! Media.

The #LightRay!100WiMLPolicy, a pioneering document crafted for adoption by media professionals, media organization owners, and management, marks a milestone in the endeavor to empower women within the media landscape. The policy recognizes the pivotal role of women in shaping narratives, perspectives, and voices in the media sector and is designed to create a more inclusive and equitable working environment.

Unlike traditional guidelines, this policy is a dynamic response to the evolving dynamics within the media landscape. It equips media organizations with the tools and insights needed to ensure gender mainstreaming and cultivate a gender-balanced media environment. By fostering fairness, diversity, and equity in news reporting, the policy advocates for inclusivity at all levels of media management.

The decision to adopt the “100 Women in Leadership Virtual Summit Policy” by the National Guild of Radio Managers (Private) signifies their unwavering commitment to advancing the welfare and progress of their members while promoting a more inclusive and equitable media landscape. Amb. Patrick Uzoyi-Peters JP, the National President of the Guild, commended the initiative, highlighting the importance of providing equal opportunities for all practitioners in the industry, irrespective of their gender, race, or background.

The adoption of this policy also signifies the Guild’s intent to integrate the key provisions into its operational framework and bye laws, further solidifying its dedication to equality, equity, and fairness in the media industry.
