As the summit continues for the two days summit, participants will delve deeper into AI’s role in creating inclusive, sustainable digital media solutions.

Reflections from Participants

Team members Surabhi Srivastava and Ana
Garza Ochoa share some quick reflections
from the recent discussions on the Global
Pigital Compact (GPC) that they have been part
of at the ongoing Action Pays Events, at the
JN’s Summit of The Future, which took place on
Sept 20-21 in New York City.

Surabhi: “For me, the discussions on the GPC
have been thought-provoking particularly in
relation to being cognizant of how people
outside of the policy, the UN, and digital rights
spaces understand this blueprint of our
collective envisioned digital futures – what are
the narratives about the GPC among people who
are not in these spaces? Is this document
accessible to the more general population? How
does it relate to their lived experiences and
everyday life? What role can unconventional
partnerships and solidarities play in
advancing the goals of the GPC? These
questions have really stayed with me and that
require serious and continuous deliberation.”

Ana: “What I found insightful was how
gender often has a narrow scope, mostly
focusing on gender-based violence (GfV). However, seeing it from the perspective of GDC,
it is important that it is included in all conversations. Additionally, questions like how
are we going to engage the larger audience
with the goals of the GPC, and once it’s
implemented, how can we have mechanisms to
assure accountability from governmental bodies remains to be answered.”
